Javanese Fried Noodles (Mie Goreng Jawa)



A fried noodle dish is the inexpensive meal solution taken by a great number of Indonesians every day. This traditional recipe will give you an authentic taste of Indonesian life.

Cooking Time: 18 minutes 
  
Ingredients:   
  • 400g Chicken fillet, diced  
  • 45ml Cooking oil  
  • 2 Eggs, whisked  
  • 30g Cabbage, julienne  
  • 30g Celery leaves, sliced  
  • 100g Bean sprouts  
  • 400g Long Life Egg Noodles  
  • 120ml ABC Sweet Soy Sauce (Kecap Manis)  
  • 30ml ABC Salty Soy Sauce (Kecap Asin)
  • 1 tsp Salt  
  • 1 tsp Grounded white pepper

Method: 
   
In a pot, cook egg noodles in boiling water for 5 minutes, drain and cool under cold running water, set aside. In a wok, heat 15ml of oil over high heat and stir fry chicken for 10 minutes. Remove chicken from wok and set aside. Heat 15ml of oil in the wok, and add in eggs and scramble. Once cooked, remove from wok and set aside. With remaining 15ml of oil, stir fry cabbage and celery leaves and stir fry for 2 minutes. Add in the cooked noodles, scrambled eggs, stir fried chicken, bean sprouts, ABC Sweet Soy Sauce and ABC Salty Soy Sauce, salt, pepper and mix well. Stir fry for another 3 minutes and then serve.
