Gochujang is a hot pepper paste – a fermented paste made with rice, red pepper powder, soybean, garlic, salt. Not just spicy but it also has a salty, almost meaty depth and a slight sweetness taste. Essential ingredient of the Korean cuisine, it is most commonly used on Bibimbap and widely used in dishes like Korean hot pot / stew, spicy rice cake (Tteokbokki), spicy chicken stir-fry (Dakgalbi) and as a marinade for Korean fried chicken. It can also be stirred into dipping sauces or used to punch up stews or soups.
